Key Features

  • Four sensors and X-Mode electromagnetic detection support arc detection.
  • AutoSense adjusts sensitivity; two memory settings store preferred setups.
  • InfoTrack 2.0 records arc time and arc count.
  • Half-shade adjustments and a quick-release cover lens simplify setup and servicing.

Common Uses & Applications

  • MIG, TIG and stick welding with appropriate settings.
  • Fabrication, industrial maintenance and equipment repair.
  • Cutting or grinding in the designated mode with required eye protection.

Mode Selection and Setup

Change modes deliberately when the task changes. Grind mode is a light state and must not be used for welding. Set a shade appropriate to the process and amperage, then adjust delay and sensitivity according to the supplied instructions. X-Mode detects the arc electromagnetically to reduce sunlight interference; it does not replace pre-use checks.

Included Equipment and Replacement Parts

ASA lists five outside cover lenses, two inside cover lenses and a helmet bag. The current manufacturer sheet identifies CR2450 replacement batteries. Match replacement lenses and accessories to the installed filter and helmet generation, particularly when servicing an older Digital Elite helmet.

Eye and Face Protection Requirements

OSHA 1910.133 requires suitable eye and face protection, including filter shades appropriate to the work. OSHA 1910.252(b)(2) addresses welding eye protection. Select shade by process and current; a helmet’s available shade range is not the correct setting for every job.

Inspect the shell, headgear, filter and cover lenses before use. Wear the required primary eye protection beneath the helmet. Stop work if the filter fails to darken correctly. A welding helmet does not provide respiratory protection.

Manufacturer Specifications

Miller Digital Elite specification sheet — PDF covers 296772. The August 2026 sheet lists ANSI Z87.1+ and CSA certification, a 1/25,000-second switching speed and a four-year auto-darkening-lens warranty. Refer to Miller’s warranty terms.

Choose appropriate clothing alongside the helmet, including a leather welding jacket when the exposure assessment calls for that coverage.
