Type 2 Lateral-Impact Protection with Full-Brim Coverage

The Raptor 3969 Type 2 Vented Full Brim Hard Hat is an ANSI/ISEA Z89.1 industrial safety helmet designed to help protect workers from impacts to the top and sides of the head. It combines Type II impact protection, full-brim coverage, shell ventilation, and an adjustable chin strap for demanding construction and industrial work.

The included chin strap helps keep the helmet in place when workers are climbing, bending, operating equipment, working at heights, or moving through confined work areas. A four-point ratchet suspension allows workers to adjust the fit while helping distribute the helmet’s weight during extended wear.

The full brim provides additional coverage around the head from sun, light rain, falling debris, and overhead jobsite conditions. Vents encourage airflow in hot environments, while the polycarbonate and ABS shell provides durable everyday impact protection.

This is a Class C hard hat. The vented shell is conductive and provides no electrical insulation. It is intended for construction, oil and gas, roadwork, manufacturing, public works, warehouses, and industrial applications where ventilation and multi-directional impact protection are needed without electrical hazard protection.

Buying Guide: Type 1 vs. Type 2 Hard Hats

Type 1 hard hats are primarily evaluated for impacts to the top of the head. Type 2 hard hats are evaluated for top and lateral impacts, making them appropriate for jobsites where workers may strike or be struck on the front, back, or sides of the head.

Choose the Ironwear 3969 when Type 2 protection, a full brim, ventilation, and a chin strap are required. Choose a Type 1 model when the workplace assessment only requires top-impact protection. For a cap-style alternative, compare this full-brim model with our Type 2 climbing-style safety helmet.

Buying Guide: Class C vs. Class E

Class C hard hats prioritize ventilation and impact protection but provide no electrical insulation. Because the Ironwear 3969 is vented, it is Class C.

For energized electrical work or environments requiring dielectric protection, select a non-vented Class E helmet that is properly rated for the assessed hazard.

FAQ

Is the Ironwear 3969 a Type 2 hard hat?

Yes. It meets ANSI/ISEA Z89.1 Type II requirements for top and lateral impact protection.

What does Class C mean?

Class C means the helmet is conductive and does not provide electrical insulation.

Does this hard hat include a chin strap?

Yes. An adjustable chin strap is included to help keep the helmet secure during active work.

Is the helmet vented?

Yes. Openings in the shell promote airflow, which is why the helmet carries a Class C rather than an electrical Class E rating.

What is the difference between this helmet and a Type 1 hard hat?

Type 1 hard hats primarily address top impacts. This Type 2 helmet also addresses impacts to the front, back, and sides of the head.

Can it be used for electrical work?

No. Select a properly rated Class E or Class G helmet when electrical protection is required.

How is the helmet packaged?

One helmet per box and six helmets per manufacturer carton.
