Fit, Inspection, and Use

Adjust the cross-back straps so the bib covers the intended front work area without restricting movement. Secure the buckles and keep loose straps away from equipment. Before each use, inspect the leather, stitching, pockets, straps, and buckles. Remove the apron from service if damage could reduce coverage or allow hot material through.

Apron or Welding Jacket?

Choose an apron when the assessed hazard is primarily frontal and uncovered arms and back are acceptable. Choose broader leather welding clothing when the task requires sleeve, shoulder, or back coverage. An apron is not a substitute for welding gloves, eye and face protection, respiratory protection, or other PPE required for the process.

Leather Welding Apron FAQ

What size is the leather welding apron?

The bib measures 24 inches wide by 36 inches long.

What type of leather is used?

The apron is made from bourbon brown side-split cowhide leather.

How many pockets does the apron have?

It has two chest pockets for small, appropriate work items.

How does the apron fasten?

Cotton cross-back straps and side-release buckles secure the apron.

What welding work is this apron intended for?

The supporting manufacturer information describes the matching apron construction for light-to-moderate welding. The employer must still select PPE for the actual process, position, heat, sparks, and spatter exposure.

Does the apron protect the arms and back?

No. This bib apron provides frontal coverage and leaves the arms and back uncovered. Add task-appropriate welding sleeves, a jacket, or other protective clothing when the hazard assessment requires broader coverage.
