Buying Guide: Fall Harness D-Ring Locations
All full-body fall arrest harnesses have a dorsal (back) D-ring as the primary fall arrest attachment point — this is where your lanyard or SRL connects. Some harnesses also include chest, hip, or front D-rings for positioning applications (holding a worker in a working position, not just arresting a fall). If your work involves fall arrest only, a single dorsal D-ring is all you need. If it involves positioning (leaning back into a harness while working, or working in a confined space with retrieval requirements), you'll need the additional D-ring options available on the MSA V-FORM (PID 869) and other multi-ring harnesses.
Applications
- Construction and general building work
- Utility and electrical maintenance at height
- Roofing and structural steel
- Industrial plant maintenance requiring fall arrest
