Ansell ActivArmr 80-400 PowerFlex Insulated Work Gloves

Ansell ActivArmr 80-400 insulated work gloves, formerly PowerFlex 80-400, combine a yellow acrylic terry loop liner with a blue natural rubber latex palm. The crinkle finish provides grip for wet and dry handling, while the knit wrist holds the glove in place. Cold Protection and Moisture Limits

Ansell lists EN 511:2006 performance code 020: convective cold level 0, contact cold level 2 and water penetration level 0. These gloves are not waterproof. Wet-grip performance describes handling traction; it does not mean the glove keeps water away from the hand.

The manufacturer's temperature guidance distinguishes extended from intermittent contact. It should not be treated as a guaranteed outdoor working temperature or safe shift duration. Evaluate wind, moisture, contact surfaces, activity and exposure time. Arrange warming breaks and replace wet gloves as needed.

Mechanical and Thermal Ratings

Manufacturer documentation lists ANSI/ISEA 105-2024 cut level A3 and EN 388:2016+A1:2018 code 2231C. Cut resistance reduces a specific hazard; it does not make the glove cut-proof. Match the rating to the edges and materials being handled.

EN 407:2020 X2XXXX identifies contact heat level 2. Other thermal properties are not established by this code. Review the manufacturer's contact conditions before handling heated components. Ansell also lists EN ISO 21420:2020 and Category II PPE.

OSHA Hand Protection Requirements

OSHA 29 CFR 1910.138 requires employers to select suitable hand protection for identified hazards, including harmful temperature extremes. Selection must account for glove performance, tasks, conditions and duration of use. This is an employer requirement, not OSHA approval of a particular glove.

Compare cold weather work gloves when your job requires a waterproof barrier, different cuff coverage or another cut rating. Keep the model number with purchasing records so replacement orders match the protection selected for each task and the intended working conditions.

Fit, Care and Manufacturer Documents

Check finger movement and grip before starting each workday. Inspect the liner, coating and seams for damage. Follow Ansell's cleaning and storage instructions; the manufacturer lists a washing temperature of 40°C. Natural rubber latex may cause allergic reactions in sensitive users.

Are these latex-free?

No. The palm coating contains natural rubber latex.

Can I use them for immersion?

No. Select gloves designed for the liquid and exposure involved.
