Manufacturer-Listed Standards
PIP lists NFPA 70E, ASTM F1891, ASTM D6413 and ASTM F1959 alongside the visibility classification. These references address different aspects of electrical safety, rainwear and testing; they do not make the coat suitable for every electrical or flame exposure. NFPA 70E is a workplace electrical-safety standard, not an independent product certification.
OSHA Arc-Flash Selection Requirements
For work covered by OSHA 1910.269(l)(8), employers must assess flame and arc hazards and estimate incident heat energy. Where required, arc-rated clothing and equipment must meet or exceed that estimated exposure, subject to the rule’s provisions.
Select the complete PPE system through the employer’s electrical-safety program. This raincoat does not provide electrical shock insulation, and its attached hood is not a substitute for required arc-rated face and head protection. Confirm compatibility with harnesses, gloves and every clothing layer; do not add individual garment arc ratings together.
Care and Inspection
The current PIP specification states Do Not Wash. Follow the sewn-in label and current manufacturer instructions. Inspect closures, coating and reflective trim before use. Remove damaged or contaminated garments from service. Older documents contain different ratings and care directions; match documentation to the supplied garment.
