Ironwear 5052 Class 0 Electrical Insulating Glove Kit

The Ironwear 5052 electrical insulating glove kit combines Class 0 rubber gloves, leather protectors and a canvas storage bag. It gives purchasing teams one kit for the insulating gloves and their protective accessories. The included black 4770-B gloves are Type 1, with an 11-inch flare cuff and maximum use voltage of 1,000 V AC.

Use the Components Together

The rubber gloves provide electrical insulation. Leather protectors help shield the rubber from mechanical damage; they are not electrical-insulating gloves on their own. Check the fit of both layers and follow the required cuff-clearance guidance before use.

Keep the selected glove size on purchasing records. Ironwear lists sizes 8 through 12. Assess dexterity with both layers fitted, and confirm that the protectors do not pinch, distort or damage the insulating gloves.

Check Testing Before First Issue

Ironwear states that gloves normally ship with factory testing performed at production, without a secondary pre-shipment test. Check the marked test date and arrange any required retesting before issue. Do not assume a new purchase automatically has a current service test.

Under OSHA 1910.137, rubber insulating gloves require testing before first issue and every six months thereafter, with additional testing when insulating value is suspect, after repair and after use without protectors. Tested gloves not yet issued must have been electrically tested within the previous twelve months before entering service.

Plan Replacement and Recordkeeping

Record the glove identification, electrical test date and first issue date in your equipment program. Keep replacement arrangements separate from routine purchasing so gloves due for testing are not returned to service by mistake. Before placing an order, confirm the required size, quantity and any testing documentation your workplace needs with the shipment.

Inspection and Storage

Inspect before each day's use and after any incident that could cause damage; include an air test. Remove defective gloves from service. Protect stored gloves from light, ozone, temperature extremes, excessive humidity and damaging substances. Follow the supplied instructions.
