Triwear Blue Lens Safety Glasses

Legacy Product — Compare Alternatives

Distributor listings identify model T1148B as discontinued. This page retains the original product details for identification and replacement planning. Browse tinted safety glasses to compare other designs. A similar mirror finish does not establish an exact replacement.

Crews Triwear T1148B safety glasses feature a blue diamond mirror lens with a steel-color frame. The original design combines a contoured frame, non-slip temple sleeves and a nosepiece for industrial eye protection. ASA's original listing includes a black carrying case and breakaway cord.

Applications to Consider When Replacing

  • Outdoor construction and maintenance.
  • Loading yards and material handling.
  • Exterior equipment inspections.
  • Facility and grounds work.
  • Industrial tasks suited to tinted eye protection.

Choosing Replacement Eyewear

Match the replacement to the work area's hazards, lighting and required coverage. Compare lens tint, coating, side protection and fit with other PPE. A blue mirrored appearance alone does not tell you how much light a lens transmits or whether it is polarized.

Check visibility when moving between sunlight, shaded areas and indoor workspaces. Darker lenses may not suit low-light tasks. If condensation is a concern, select a model with an explicitly documented anti-fog coating; the blue mirror designation does not establish that feature.

Safety Standards and Workplace Selection

ASA's original listing references ANSI Z87.1-2003 high-impact protection. This historical reference does not establish compliance with a newer edition. Verify the markings and manufacturer instructions for any existing glasses or replacement model.

OSHA 29 CFR 1910.133 requires appropriate eye protection for workplace hazards and side protection where flying objects are present. Use goggles or additional face protection when required by the exposure.

A mirror finish is not a welding filter rating. Select process-specific filtered protection for welding hazards rather than relying on lens color.

Inspect and Store Existing Glasses

Inspect lenses, frame, temples and nosepiece before use. Replace damaged eyewear or lenses scratched enough to impair vision. Follow the original cleaning instructions and keep the carrying case free of grit. Use only approved replacement components; a similar-looking lens may not fit or preserve the assembly's protection.

FAQ

  • Is T1148B discontinued? Distributor listings mark this exact model discontinued. An official manufacturer discontinuation notice has not been located.
  • Does “steel color” mean a steel frame? No. It describes the frame finish and should not be treated as a material specification.
  • Is the blue mirror lens anti-fog? An anti-fog coating has not been verified for T1148B. Select a replacement with documented fog resistance if needed.

These glasses are pretty cool. The blue shade keeps the sun out when im out all day in the hot TX sun. My only problem is that I keep losing them all the time. Shipping was fast..within 2-3 days.
