Select fit testing supplies for the OSHA-accepted protocol, test agent, facepiece type, and workplace procedure being used. A fit test kit does not make a respirator compliant by itself. OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134 requires employers to maintain a written respiratory protection program and follow the mandatory fit testing procedures in Appendix A. Personnel administering qualitative fit tests must be able to prepare the test materials, conduct the procedure correctly, identify invalid tests, and maintain the equipment.
