Padded Palm Work Gloves
Portwest A771 PW3 work gloves combine reinforced padded palms, knuckle padding, and touchscreen compatibility for hands-on tasks. A retail tag is also included. Key Features
- Reinforced palm padding adds cushioning at the hand’s contact surface.
- Knuckle padding provides another padded area across the hand.
- Touchscreen capability allows use with most compatible phones and devices.
- High-visibility material adds a visible contrast to the black glove.
- Lightweight construction supports comfortable handling without a bulky glove profile.
Applications
Consider A771 for maintenance, material handling, general construction, carpentry, and utility tasks where its ratings are appropriate. Portwest identifies these uses for its mechanic glove collection. Check the actual task, equipment, and exposure before selection; a multi-purpose label does not make one glove suitable for every job.
Select for Fit and the Task
Portwest currently names A771 the PW3 Mechanic 540 PU Reinforced Palm Glove; older documents call it the PW3 Tradesman Glove. Use the model number to match documents when product names differ. For the black/yellow version, manufacturer size codes include A771BKYM, A771BKYL, and A771BKYXL. These identify Medium, Large, and XL respectively, helping buyers distinguish the required size on a purchase order.
Choose Medium, Large, or XL from this listing. Check finger reach, grip, and freedom of movement before assigning sizes across a crew. For repeat purchases, identify both Portwest A771 and ASA SKU SA771, then specify the size. Compare other work gloves when your assessment calls for different materials or protection levels.
Safety Standards and OSHA Requirements
Portwest lists EN 388:2016+A1:2018, 2X22B: abrasion Level 2, no declared Coupe blade-cut result in the X position, tear Level 2, puncture Level 2, and ISO 13997 cut Level B. These are separate test results. Level B is not an ANSI A-level, and the puncture result does not establish needlestick resistance.
EN ISO 21420:2020, dexterity Level 4 addresses general glove requirements and the listed dexterity test result. It does not establish chemical, electrical, or thermal protection.
OSHA 29 CFR 1910.138 requires appropriate hand protection based on glove performance, tasks, conditions, exposure duration, and identified hazards. OSHA 1910.132(d) requires workplace hazard assessment and properly fitting PPE. These are employer requirements, not OSHA product approval.

FAQ – A771
What materials are listed?
Portwest’s product page lists polyurethane, nylon, and elastic. Its technical data sheet also lists polyester. These are construction materials; they should not be interpreted as a chemical-resistance specification.
Will the touchscreen feature work with every device?
Portwest specifies compatibility with most touchscreen devices, not all. Check operation with the device used for your work before relying on that feature.
Does knuckle padding mean impact certification?
No. Padding describes construction. The listed 2X22B rating does not include an impact pass designation. Select separately rated protection when your hazard assessment requires it.
Where are the manufacturer specifications?
Review the Portwest A771 product page and manufacturer’s A771 technical data sheet PDF for product details, documented ratings, and ordering information.
