Portwest FR44 Sealtex Flame Hi-Vis FR Coat FAQ

Is the Portwest FR44 coat ANSI Class 3?

Yes. Portwest lists FR44 to ANSI/ISEA 107 Type R Class 3 for high-visibility workwear. The employer should still confirm that Type R Class 3 is the required classification for the work area.

Is the FR44 rain coat waterproof?

Portwest describes the PU-coated shell as waterproof and specifies welded seams. The manufacturer also lists EN 343 Class 3:1 X.

How long is the Portwest FR44 coat?

Portwest identifies FR44 as a 50-inch coat.

Is the Portwest FR44 arc-rated?

Portwest does not publish an arc rating for FR44 and does not list it to NFPA 70E or ASTM F1506 on the product record. Do not use it as a substitute for arc-rated rainwear when an electrical hazard assessment requires an arc rating.

What flame standard applies to FR44?

Portwest lists EN ISO 14116 Index 1, a limited-flame-spread classification. Selection must follow the employer's hazard assessment and the garment label.

Does the coat provide chemical-splash protection?

Portwest lists EN 13034 Type 6 for limited protection against liquid chemical splash. Chemical compatibility, concentration, exposure duration, seams, closures, and the complete PPE system must be evaluated for the specific task.

Does FR44 have a hood?

Yes. The coat has an adjustable hood that packs away when it is not needed.

Which sizes does ASA offer?

ASA currently lists sizes S, M, L, XL, 2X, and 3X. Use the size selector above the description for current availability.

How should the Portwest FR44 coat be cleaned?

Portwest specifies a mild wash process up to 40°C, no bleach, no tumble drying, drip-line drying, no ironing, and no dry cleaning, with a maximum of five washes. Always follow the sewn garment label.
