CAT 2 Arc-Rated Coverall with 4-Inch X-Back Visibility

The FR512 Bizflame 88/12 high-visibility FR coverall combines an ATPV of 8.2 cal/cm² with CSA Z96 Class 3 Level 2 visibility. Its orange 7 oz cotton/nylon fabric and four-inch contrast X-back tape support industrial clothing programs requiring flame resistance, arc-rated coverage and worker visibility.

A two-way breakaway brass zipper provides front access. Eight pockets organize small essentials, while strap and elastic attachment points accommodate an H2S monitor. Lowered rear reflective tape leaves space for logo placement; any customization must preserve the garment’s protective performance.

Manufacturer-Listed Safety Standards

Portwest’s Canadian catalog lists NFPA 2112, ASTM F1506 and ASTM F1959/F1959M-12, with an ATPV of 8.2 cal/cm². It also references NFPA 70E, the workplace electrical-safety standard used for PPE selection. NFPA 70E is not a standalone garment certification.

CSA Z96 Class 3 Level 2 is a Canadian visibility classification. Do not substitute it for an ANSI/ISEA 107 rating when the job specifically requires ANSI-rated apparel.

OSHA Requirements and Hazard Assessment

OSHA 29 CFR 1910.335(a)(1)(i) requires appropriate protective equipment for electrical hazards. For covered electric-power operations, 1910.269(l)(8) addresses arc and flame protection.

Select the complete PPE system through the applicable hazard assessment. CAT 2 does not establish suitability for every task, and this coverall does not insulate against electrical shock.

Fit, Inspection and Care

Review the Size Chart tab and current ordering options. Allow room for required layers without restricting movement. Follow the sewn label for laundering and inspect fabric, seams, zipper and reflective tape before reuse. Remove damaged or contaminated garments from service according to your employer’s FR clothing program.

FAQ

  • Is this an ANSI Class 3 coverall? The documented visibility rating is CSA Z96 Class 3 Level 2, not ANSI/ISEA 107.
  • Is the coverall fireproof? No. Flame resistance and an arc rating do not eliminate burn hazards.
  • Does it include an H2S monitor? Attachment points are provided; a monitor is not included.
  • Does it protect against H2S gas? No gas-protection claim is established. Monitor attachment points do not provide respiratory protection.
  • What does the arc rating tell me? ATPV is a laboratory-tested thermal performance value, not a safe exposure duration.
  • Is it sold individually? Yes. The selling unit is one coverall.
