Manufacturer-Listed Standards

The Portwest UBIZ1 technical datasheet PDF lists NFPA 2112, ASTM F1506 and ASTM F1959 with ATPV 11.2 cal/cm². It also lists EN ISO 11611 Class 1 A1+A2 and EN ISO 11612 A1+A2, B1, C1, E2, F1.

Portwest references NFPA 70E for workplace electrical-safety applications. NFPA 70E guides safe work practices and PPE selection; it is not a standalone garment certification. Check the supplied garment label and required standards before issue.

OSHA Requirements and Selection

OSHA 29 CFR 1910.335(a)(1)(i) requires protective equipment appropriate to electrical hazards and exposed body parts. For covered electric-power work, 1910.269(l)(8) addresses arc and flame protection.

Select the complete PPE system through the hazard assessment. CAT 2 does not authorize every energized task, and this coverall does not insulate against electrical shock. Additional head, face, hand and foot protection may be required.

Fit and Care

Check the Size Chart tab and current ASA options. Allow room for required layers, then check reaching, bending and kneeling. Keep closures fastened as directed. Portwest specifies a mild wash up to 40°C, no bleach, no tumble drying, line drying, no ironing and no dry cleaning. Follow the sewn label and inspect for damage or contamination before reuse.

FAQ

  • Is the arc rating 9.5 or 11.2? Portwest lists ATPV 11.2 cal/cm². The 9.5 oz figure describes fabric weight.
  • Does it have a zipper? UBIZ1 uses a concealed snap front and snap-adjustable cuffs.
  • How many pockets are provided? Portwest lists eight pockets.
  • Is it fireproof? No. Flame resistance does not eliminate burn hazards.
  • Is it suitable for all welding? No. Match the documented Class 1 rating and complete PPE to the assessed process and exposure.
