Buying Guide: Nonwoven Covers vs. Mesh Beard Nets
Choose nonwoven beard covers when your procedure calls for a fabric-style facial hair covering. Mesh beard nets have an open construction. Neither format alone establishes filtration, sterility or cleanroom suitability; select the type accepted by your facility’s hygiene program.
Check coverage around the chin and sides of the beard before entering production. Longer or fuller beards may require a larger style. For scalp hair, pair the cover with a suitably sized ComfortSafe bouffant cap. A beard cover does not replace a head-hair restraint.
Food Hygiene and Respirator Requirements
FDA 21 CFR 117.10(b)(6) calls for effective hair restraints, including beard covers, where appropriate in covered food operations. This requirement does not certify this product or establish food-contact material compliance.
A beard cover is not a respirator. OSHA 1910.134(g)(1)(i) prohibits tight-fitting respirator use when facial hair interferes with the face seal or valve function. Covering the beard does not resolve that restriction.
