3M BX Readers safety glasses combine workplace eye protection with built-in lower-lens magnification for close-up tasks. Choose +1.5, +2.0 or +2.5 diopters in clear or gray lenses. The reader segment helps workers examine small parts, labels and instructions while keeping protective eyewear in place.

Selecting Strength and Lens Color
Choose the reader strength that suits your normal working distance. A stronger diopter is not automatically a better choice. Confirm that the reading area sits where you need it after adjusting the frame, and check that your view remains suitable for walking, using tools and operating equipment.
Clear lenses suit indoor tasks where maximum available light is useful. Gray lenses reduce brightness outdoors; avoid using a dark tint where it makes details difficult to see. These BX Readers magnify the lower lens area, rather than the entire lens. They are different from BX Dual Readers, which have upper and lower magnifying segments.
Eye Protection Standards and Limitations
3M lists BX Readers as meeting ANSI Z87.1-2015 and CSA Z94.3. Select the correct variant and check the markings and instructions supplied with it. These products are intended for industrial and occupational use.
OSHA 29 CFR 1910.133 requires eye protection appropriate to the hazards, including side protection where flying objects are present. OSHA does not approve individual glasses. Reader magnification does not replace individually prescribed vision correction, and these glasses do not provide a sealed barrier against dust or chemical splash.
Inspection and Care
Inspect lenses and frames before use. Replace damaged eyewear or lenses with scratches that obstruct vision. Follow 3M's cleaning instructions and check that the glasses remain compatible with other required PPE after adjustment.

- Are all options +1.5? No. Select +1.5, +2.0 or +2.5 and the lens color before ordering.
- Are these full-lens magnifiers? No. Magnification is built into the lower reading segment.
- Can gray lenses be used for welding? Gray tint is not a welding filter rating. Use the shade and protection specified for the welding process.
