Use the six-month recommendation as a maintenance planning interval, not permission to continue using damaged parts until the scheduled date. Review condition earlier when wear is apparent. After replacement, check fit with the other protective equipment worn during the task, and address any interference with the ear seal before work begins.
OSHA hearing protection requirements
OSHA 29 CFR 1910.95(i) addresses hearing protector replacement, training, and proper fitting. Paragraph (j) requires employers to evaluate attenuation for the actual noise environment. These are workplace requirements, not OSHA approval of this kit.
HY54 is a maintenance accessory with no standalone Noise Reduction Rating. Select and evaluate the complete earmuff for the employee's exposure; replacing cushions does not increase its published rating.
