3M E-A-R Classic corded earplugs, model 311-1101, provide NRR 29 dB hearing protection in a box of 200 individually bagged pairs. The yellow, cylindrical PVC foam compresses for insertion and slowly expands within the ear canal. An attached cord keeps each pair together between uses.

The moisture-resistant foam is suited to workplace conditions involving heat and humidity. Correct fitting and consistent wear remain essential: visible earplugs do not prove an effective seal, and a cord does not increase the protection rating.

Fitting Guide: Roll, Pull and Hold

Start with clean hands and inspect both plugs. Roll each plug into a narrow cylinder without creases. Using the opposite hand, pull the ear upward and outward, insert the compressed plug and hold it until the foam expands. Follow the complete fitting instructions in the manufacturer document.

Check the fit before entering hazardous noise and recheck during use. A hand-cupping check can help identify a poor seal, but it does not measure personal attenuation. If a comfortable seal cannot be achieved, seek fitting assistance or another size or style.

Buying Guide: Corded or Uncorded?

Choose based on task requirements, fit and site rules. Corded plugs help keep a pair accessible between noise exposures, but assess snagging hazards around moving equipment. Do not treat this cord as a verified breakaway safety device. Remove hearing protection only after leaving hazardous noise.

For replenishment, this box supplies 200 paired sets, not 200 individual plugs. Plan stock around worker numbers, shifts and replacement needs. Keep unused pairs protected from contamination and replace dirty or damaged plugs. The cord does not turn disposable foam into a washable reusable product.

Hearing Protection Requirements

OSHA 29 CFR 1910.95 addresses occupational noise exposure, hearing conservation, attenuation evaluation, fitting and training. Purchasing NRR-rated earplugs alone does not establish compliance.

NIOSH recommends individual quantitative fit testing. Use measured exposure and fit results to select protection; do not simply subtract 29 dB from a workplace noise reading.
