Choosing a Full-Face Respirator

A full facepiece covers the eyes, nose, and mouth, but it does not provide respiratory protection by itself. Use the exact manufacturer-approved filters, cartridges, canisters, regulators, cylinders, and accessories required by the model’s complete NIOSH-approved configuration. Eye and face impact or splash performance also varies by product, lens, and configuration.

Required use of a tight-fitting full facepiece must follow OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134, including hazard evaluation, medical evaluation, fit testing, training, maintenance, and seal checks. Assigned protection depends on the approved configuration and fit-test method. Air-purifying respirators must not be used in oxygen-deficient or IDLH atmospheres.

The Avon C50 CBRN respirator and MSA G1 Industrial SCBA serve specialized programs. Confirm the hazard profile, agency or facility requirements, complete approval configuration, component compatibility, training, and service support before ordering.
