Cryogen Safety Apron – Extreme Cold Protection for Hazardous Work Environments
The Tempshield Cryo-Apron provides insulated front coverage for liquid nitrogen handling and other cryogenic work. This 24-inch-wide by 42-inch-long apron combines a waterproof exterior with multilayer insulation and adjustable straps. Its dimensions correspond to manufacturer model CA42.
Tempshield lists the Cryo-Apron for ultra-cold applications down to −196°C (−320°F). This application temperature does not establish a safe contact time or permit immersion. Select protection for the task, exposure and body areas at risk.

Fit, Inspection and Care
Choose apron length for the wearer and required coverage. Fasten the waist strap first, then adjust the neck strap so the apron rests against the chest without pulling the neck forward. Inspect regularly; replace an apron that is punctured, cut, torn or worn through to its white liner.
Store clean and dry without heavy objects compressing the insulation. Do not machine wash, machine dry or autoclave. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for continued use and care.
Cryogenic Protection Limits
This apron does not provide full-body protection by itself. Combine it with suitable cryogenic gloves, eye and face protection, and other PPE selected for the operation. Never immerse it in liquid nitrogen or another liquid cryogen. It is not heat protection; keep away from flames and ignition sources. Do not assume resistance to unrelated chemicals.
Safety Standards and Manufacturer Documentation
The manufacturer’s current notice identifies EU PPE Regulation 2016/425 Category III and EN ISO 13688:2013 + A1:2021. It also reports cold, water-penetration and mechanical test results. Consult the document for individual test methods and limitations.
OSHA 29 CFR 1910.132 requires workplace hazard assessment, suitable PPE selection and training. OSHA 29 CFR 1910.133 addresses eye and face protection. These are employer requirements, not OSHA product approval.
