A safety harness lanyard is one connecting component, not a complete fall-protection system. Match the lanyard to the full-body harness, anchorage, connector, task, combined worker-and-equipment weight, required mobility, potential free-fall distance, available fall clearance, and rescue plan.
Fall-arrest, restraint, positioning, and tie-back lanyards are not automatically interchangeable. Use each model only for its manufacturer-listed application and compatible connection. Inspect the complete system during every workshift, remove damaged or impact-loaded components from service, and follow the employer's fall-protection program and applicable OSHA requirements.
