Safety Glasses - Eye Protection

Safety glasses are recommended by The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for eye protection for a variety of potential exposure settings where workers may be at risk. Safety glasses, goggles, face shields and visors provide a barrier to infectious materials or dangerous debris entering the eye and is often used in conjunction with other personal protective equipment. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (also known as OSHA) is a regulatory arm of the U.S. Department of Labor and oversees safety practices and regulations in the workplace. OSHA uses safety eyewear standards established by a non-profit organization - The American National Standards Institute (ANSI), which creates quality and safety standards for a wide variety of products including safety glasses and goggles. Eye protection chosen for specific work situations depends upon the circumstances of exposure to the eyes. Eye protection must be comfortable and allow for sufficient peripheral vision and must be adjustable to ensure a secure fit.
